It is my privilege and honor to teach at Pines Charter High School. I want each of my students to have a rich experience and to learn as much as they can about the subject matter. I also want them to learn some things about living that they can take with them as they move into adulthood.
This site is meant to provide syllabi, assignments, and supplemental materials for class study. It also includes many links to rich resources others have developed. I hope you enjoy your search.
My purpose in life is to discover human talents and skills and then to help release those gifts.
In addition to teaching Advanced Placement United States History, Honors Government, and Honors Economics at Pines Charter High School, I’m in my seventh year as a faculty member of the Keller Graduate School and designated as “Senior Faculty.” I also teach courses at several other national and local colleges and universities on an adjunct basis.
It all began on a small farm in northern Minnesota where I
soon discovered I couldn't plow a straight furrow and so I went off to college
and became a teacher. In my first year of public school teaching they made me an
assistant principal and before I knew it I had picked up a doctorate in
administration/management and was a very young superintendent of schools in one
of the largest school districts in Minnesota.
After seven years as a superintendent I ran for and was elected as Minnesota's 41st Lieutenant Governor. While in that job I also had the unique added responsibility of being the Chief-of-Staff for the governor! At the end of my term I was my party’s (I'll let you guess which one....) endorsed candidate for governor---at which time I got a clear message to seek other work.
My next job was as a Fortune 500 corporate executive heading a new division where we trained 22,000 students per year in 38 schools across the nation. Our $55 million revenue division also was engaged in electronic publishing. Later I moved to Florida and purchased my own group of vocational schools which I ran for about 12 years. After selling the last of those I have gone back to my first love of teaching. By the way, like about 10 million others in Florida I am a licensed realtor--with a GRI designation (currently inactive).
